Path 30 The Sun, Hebrew Resh (Head)

Path 30 connects Yesod, home of the Subconscious, to Hod, the home of the lower Intellect.  It is therefore a path of great power and signifies our capacity to Reason.

The Hebrew attribution of Resh, meaning Head, indicates that this path is concerned with all things to do with Intelligence.  The ability to reason from cause to effect is one of major differences between man and animal.  Using such reason, Mankind can “tell the future”, effectively traveling short distances in time.

Reason has been called, “the Fire of the World” and it allows us to formulate and understand the laws of life and nature; but its effects can also be barren when applied without the ways of the heart or even of those of the instinct.  We are composite beings and must give life to all our faculties if we are to find the balance that gives access to the inner worlds and the true Self.

The reference to “astrologers” in the ancient Yetziratic text could be translated as all science in a modern context.  Magicians also understand something deeper: that the Solar Logos, or great being who controls the fire of our lives is connected with a greater Zodiac which spans the Cosmos.
