Path 29 - The Star (Also attributed to the Emperor in some preferences)
Connecting Yesod, home of the gate to the Subconscious and the Creative Imagination’s power base in Netzach, this path gives the Personality its first glimpse of the Soul or Individuality above.
Because of the power of this vision and the way our minds have been trained to work, we are subject to the deadly trap of Glamour, the mistaken projection of our own inner glory onto the image of another. A frequent trap for the young, this is a painful lesson that can last many years, before we come to recognise that the only strength and beauty worth having is our own.
Tzaddi means fish hook, and this gives a hint as to the inner meaning of the tarot card which is Meditation. The female figure is ready to reveal herself to us in all her potent glory but requires that we delve into the waters of the subconscious to achieve this knowledge. She is there to guide us, as stars have done for Mankind throughout history.
